SCALE SOURCE® KENTUCKY, OKLAHOMA AND MISSOURI RECEIVES 17025 ACCREDITATION

November, 2004

Three locations within Scale Source® have obtained full ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation to assure our customers of our technical validity and competence. Those locations include Kentucky, Missouri, and Oklahoma.

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a worldwide federation comprised of representatives from national standards bodies in approximately 140 countries around the world. ISO's mission is to promote international standards in quality practices and global exchange.

Today, ISO has two quality standards that can be applied to quality assurance in analytical data: ISO 9001 and ISO 17025. ISO 17025 is specifically focused on testing and calibration laboratories. The essence of such accreditation is to ensure validity of test data through technical competence and, in turn, demonstrate that the laboratory is adhering to an internationally recognized set of standards. To be ISO accredited, a facility must complete an independent assessment of its processes and performances.

These three locations within Scale Source® can now offer tests/calibrations that are 17025 accredited within our scope. If you are a customer, or a potential customer requiring this optional service, please contact us for further details.

WEST KENTUCKY SCALE COMPANY RECOGNIZED BY METTLER TOLEDO

"...If you attended the Distributor Sales Conference in La Jolla, CA, you became well aware of the emphasis that Mettler Toledo places on service when making presentations to major customers. A recent order from Kent Smith of West Kentucky Scale in Ledbetter, KY, supports the theory that if you Lead with Service, good things happen. The ISP Chemical plant in Calvert City, KY, was built in the 1960’s and it was full of competitive equipment. West Kentucky Scale has had the service contract at the plant since it opened and over the years, Kent and Randy Whitledge have replaced the competitive equipment with Mettler Toledo. When it came time to add a drumfiller to one of the drumming operations, Kent was asked to specify the equipment. The performance of the Mettler Toledo products in the plant and the reputation of West Kentucky Scale resulted in an order for one (1) 9127H Stainless Steel, Hazardous Area, JagXtreme Terminal, 24” swivel surface fill lance assembly for filling four (4) drums on a pallet, and one (1) 2158 4’ x 4’ stainless steel 5K floor scale. Kent had NO COMPETITION on this order. How’s that for a testimonial that “Service Sells Product”. Congratulations, Kent, on a great order and a great relationship with your customer."

WEST KENTUCKY SCALE COMPANY RECOGNIZED BY METTLER TOLEDO

"...a major fertilizer company in New Madrid, MO is involved in a plant expansion and invites Randy Whitledge from West Kentucky Scale to propose a solution to weigh multiple trucks, inbound/outbound, at multiple locations throughout the plant. This is a very competitive, high-profile project with ALL of the competition involved in quoting. The combination of METTLER TOLEDO’s broad vehicle scale product line and Randy’s expertise in providing turn-key vehicle scale installations proved invaluable as we were able to propose multiple understructure solutions. However, communication with the plant server presented a greater challenge because of the distances between the scales and the proximity of the server. Randy’s solution was to use the Ethernet connection on the JAGXTREME to communicate between the Jags on a hub and the server via the plants LAN vs. a serial connection and RF (radio frequency) which was being proposed by the competition. The end result was an order for three (3) 7560 70’ x 11’ and three (3) JAGXTREMEs. Lesa Smith at West Kentucky Scale is writing a short JAGBASIC program to prompt the operator for the variable information associated with the transaction and using a jagxapi.dll file in the Visual Basic program to read/write variable information to the JAGXTREMEs via the Ethernet connection. This is a perfect example that construction and software capabilities are powerful tools in the Vehicle Scale business. Nice project Randy..."
