Scale Source serves customers through its eight locations in the Midwest and Southern Regions including Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma.

We are proud to be a supplier of quality weighing equipment and replacement parts to our U.S. customers and around the world. We are registered in the following states in the U.S. to service, rent and install weighing equipment: Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas.

We are a distributor for Mettler-Toledo, the worlds largest scale manufacturer. We also represent such recognizable names as Rice Lake Weighing Systems, Fairbanks, Avery Weigh-Tronix, and many others.

Three locations within Scale Source ® are currently ISO/IEC 17025 Accredited.

ISO/IEC 17025 is an internationally recognized quality assurance program that addresses every element of laboratory management. It is now one of the families of Management Systems standards that include ISO 9000 (Quality). Accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 may in many cases eliminate the need for ISO 9000 registration. A little history...

Scale Source opened its doors in 1976 in the small town of Ledbetter, Kentucky, at that time known as West Kentucky Scale Company. James H. "Jim" Whitledge, Founder, with only two technicians, offered sales and service of scales to local area businesses and plants.

As time passed, West Kentucky Scale Company grew. Jim’s son began working for the company as a technician…who soon recognized the potential of this young but successful company. In 1989, twenty-six year old Randy Whitledge purchased the company from his father.

Now growing exponentially, the company strengthened and expanded the technical department, as well as staffed in-house construction crews to install scales across the nation. Little did the young new owner know, that branching out into the Missouri market with ‘Heartland Weighing Systems’ was just the beginning.

In 2001, West Kentucky Scale Company acquired Lewis Distributor in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. With the goal in mind to continue its’ expansion, the company merged the three offices to form Scale Source. The new name was selected to better symbolize the ability to offer an expanded sales and service area throughout the Southern regions of the U.S. It was also selected to reflect uniformity throughout the three locations as leaders in sales and service of weighing equipment.

Five years later, Scale Source seized the opportunity to branch into Iowa and Nebraska. The acquisition of R&V Scale with its five locations allows Scale Source to boast eight successful locations with a professional staff of almost sixty.

Much of the latter growth of Scale Source has been accomplished through acquisitions. Although Scale Source has grown leaps and bounds since 1976, at the heart, it still operates with the beliefs and values of the one man inspired to first open its doors.
