Unattended Truck Scale Application

Customer Requirements:

Customer needed a means to document the amount of soil being moved from one location to another.

This customer did not want the cost of hiring an attendant for this operation.

The customer also did not want to slow the operation down by having drivers get out and print tickets each time they crossed the scales.

Solution:

Provided an Unattended Truck Scale System by installing RFID tags on the trucks, an RFID Tag reader at the scale, along with a JagExtreme Indicator programmed to allow trucks to be automatically weighed. Truck ID, Weight, along with date and time is captured and stored in a report file which can periodically be printed out or downloaded into a laptop computer.

ROI : The Unattended Portion of the project cost less than hiring an attendant for six (6) months.

Solution Technical Details:

  1. Equipment consists of following:
    • JagExtreme Indicator
    • Keyboard
    • Remote Display
    • Smart Pass RF Tag Reader
    • RF Truck Identification Tags
    • Traffic Signal
    • Report Printer
    • Ticket Printer
  2. Operation:
    • When scale is empty, JagExtreme and Remote display “00” and traffic signal will be green to indicate it is O.K. to proceed onto scale.
    • Truck proceeds onto scale until traffic signal turns red.
    • JagExtreme captures Truck ID and Weight.
    • Remote Display shows Gross Weight.
    • If Gross Weight is below programmed threshold, alternating red and green lights indicate the capture and storage of a new tare weight.
    • If Gross Weight is above programmed threshold, JagExtreme will lookup stored tare weight and record Gross, Net, and Tare weight in database.
    • Traffic Signal turns green to indicate it is ok to proceed off scale.
    • In the event the JagExtreme is unable to successfully read a Truck ID Tag and record data for any reason, the traffic signal will flash red.
    • Flashing Red Traffic signal will require driver to exit scale and try again, or exit truck and follow prompts on the JagExtreme in order to assure data is properly captured.
    • All unsuccessful entries are recorded in a data table with Date and Time.
    • All successful entries are recorded in a data table with Truck ID, Date and Time, Gross, Net, and Tare Weights.
    • Manual Entry of Tare Weights require Supervisor Name and Password to be entered and Tare Weight Entry selected from menu.
    • Weighing of Trucks without ID tags cause Traffic Signal to flash red and require Driver to exit truck and follow prompts on JagExtreme.
  3. Reports:
    • Three reports are available for selection upon entry of Supervisor Name and Password into the JagExtreme.
    • One report is sorted by Truck ID Number.
    • One report is sorted by Date and Time.
    • One report prints a list of all unsuccessful entries, sorted by date and time.
